Loading applications in Citrix Receiver should be fast and painless. If you experience a process which is not as it is described here, then you should seek assistance to ensure your access is reliable.

 

The following steps should provide an expectation for screen sequences and load times.

 

Logging on to Citrix

 

Logging on to Citrix either internally (without a token) or externally (with a token) should take no longer than 10 seconds from the time you click the Log On button until you arrive at the apps icon window.

 

If the application icons are not visible, you should click the + symbol on the left hand side of the screen and add icons from the list of available applications.

 

The screen below shows mAlertManager, PCC, CM (Cost Monitor) and RDP links to server desktops. Not all these icons are available to all users. The important ones for Heritage Stoneworks is PCC and Cost Monitor. If these icons are not visible, you should seek assitance to ensure your ID has been added to the correct application group.

Starting Applications

 

Click once only on an application icon to start/load the application. You may witness a short delay after your single click and a small timer wheel overlayed on the icon but this should last only a second or two. You may then witness a small white dialog in the centre of the screen and you may see a couple of black pop-up ODS boxes may flash on the screen. The white dialog will have the word 'Starting' and a green gauge bar which may climb to about 15% of the way before it disappears. Often this dialog does not appear at all.

 

You should then see the PCC or Cost Monitor Logon dialog. At this time, you should logon to the application with your known credentials. The application load time should again be only a few seconds.

 

Issues

 

Some possible issues you may experience are:

After one click of the application icon, the overlay timer wheel runs, disappears and nothing else happens. Please advise when/if this occurs.

The 'Starting' dialog may appear, run up to 15% (green gauge bar), then disappear. Please advise when/if this occurs.

The application logon window appears as if it is there but transparent. You see the server desktop thru the transparent logon form. This is likely to be a profile corruption and requires resetting. Contact the Help Dekp, aks for the issue to be escalated to Tier 2 staff and ask for your Citrix Profile to be reset.

 

Please provide the Server ID and the Receiver Version number when reporting any of these issues.

Citrix Receiver Version and Properties

 

It's important, at times, to know the version of the Citrix Receiver you have installed and are running. You may be asked to provide this information when trying to resolve issues. Some operating issues are related to mismatched versions. So to check the version of Citrix Receiver you have installed, right click on the Citrix icon in the icon tray.

Select Connection Center to open the Connection Centre dialog. You will see Citrix Server ID (Name) under the Active node of the Connections list.

Click the Properties button to open the Status dialog which shows the version number. The Citrix Receiver version will be displayed at the top of the Properties tab.
