Quality of Service and Completion Audits

Contractor performance is summarized  in terms of merit and de-merit. Where performance is measured as "Acceptable" in all characteristics, the audit score is zero (0).

So in the example above;

AS Crawford has been subject to one audit and has been deemed acceptable in all characteristics,

ASB Building Group has been subject to 15 audits. They have never received a score less than "Acceptable" but have received an average 4 merits associated with "Good" and "Excellent" nominations where Good is worth 1 point and Excellent is worth 2 points. They have received a maximum of 6 merit points on one of the 15 audits. Their average percentile is 33.

An average Percentile of 0 is Acceptable but not meritorious. Any average percentile above 0 is meritorious. A contractor would need to score "Excellent" in all six characteristics on all audits to achieve a percentile of 100.

Any average de-merit score greater than 0 is worthy of addressing with the contractor in regard to their improving their performance.

Since many audit characteristics in the safety audit are frequently not applicable to a specific audit, it would be very hard and quite unfair to score performance based on these irrelevant characteristics.

Also, since the outcome of the relevant characteristics is either YES (conforming) of NO (non-conforming), and the desired outcome is, in fact YES, then the only relvant measure of performance is associated with the NO measures. That is:

disregard the YES answers since they are the expected outcome, and
disregard all the non-applicable characteristics sine they mean nothing to the audit in question,
just tell me how many NOs have been recorded against this contractor.

In the example above, ASB Building Group have been audited once. For all relevant/applicable audit characteristics, they have scored exactly as required, i.e. a zero outcome. The average score is also zero and this would be the desired outcome for all contractor audits. That is, no matter what is relevant to a particular audit, the contractor has conformed with all requirements.

BDC Plumbing, in the above example, however, has received only one audit but has shown some no-conformity in Documentation, Site Area, Working Heights and Demolition.

Any individual or average score in Safety Audit Performance reporting greater than 0 is note worthy. Experience and history will provide a basis for evolving a score above which performance is not tolerated.
