A new version Cost Monitor is currently under construction. Cost Monitor was an application written in the early 90s which provided budget setting, commitment recording and expense recording and reporting functions for construction projects. CashFlow graphs were produced which compared actual to theoretical and also permitted hypothetical analysis along with forecast end cost reporting.
The new version due for release mid 2010 will also include a construction estimating module and contractor award protocol designed to provide best practice probity in contract award. The application will be deployed via remote desktop over SSL from a virtual environment. The end-user base will be stationed over a wide area of the city and will access the server resources via aircard and laptop.
The database server will fall within an existing server replication farm to ensure total redundancy and uninterrupted access.
